So, I quit my job and am off to Puerto Rico to repair houses and build roofs! It's my first time visiting the homeland, and I am ecstatic to volunteer and help the community. It has been a year since Hurricane Irma and Maria, and the island is still in anguish from lack of aid and resources. I will be stationed in Barranquitas, through the All Hands and Hearts - Smart Response Program for the month of September.
My trip has come with some unexpected expenses, and so I am reaching out for sponsors to help me fully realize my goal. This money will go towards my travel expenses, work boots, safety gear, and hopefully a little extra to explore the island on my days off ;) Any little bit helps, including connecting with friends and family while I'm on the island!
Volunteering in this capacity has been something that I have always wanted to do, and it is particularly special that I get to do so in my family's homeland, which has been suffering so much. I am finally actualizing my dreams, and the response that I have received thus far has been wondrous! Thank you all for sharing your love and support.
