For over 70 years, the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) has united women journalists, filmmakers, researchers, and media educators across the globe in a shared commitment to gender justice and media equality.

With members in 54 countries and decades of grassroots action behind us, we’ve stood together to:

• Support the safety of women journalists through workshops, handbooks, films like Velvet Revolution, and a pioneering Digital Safe House in the Philippines.

• Launch the Asian Women’s Film Festival, now in its 20th year in Delhi — the only festival of its kind celebrating women filmmakers of Asian origin worldwide.

• Produce award-winning documentaries on climate change, reproductive rights, and migration.

• Mentor women journalists and lead global research on gender equality in the media.

Right now, we need your support to make something essential happen.

This November, we are planning our 40th Biennial Conference - a rare, in-person gathering of our global community - in Kathmandu, Nepal under the theme: “Gender Justice in a Conflicted World.”

These biennial conferences are not just meetings. They are transformative spaces where we forge trust, solidarity, and strategy. In a world marked by conflict, climate disruption, and inequality, these gatherings help us imagine and build a better future together.

But to make it happen, we need to raise NOK 435,000 (approximately USD 38,000). We are aiming to gather around one-third of this amount through crowdfunding, with the rest coming from grants, institutional support, and in-kind contributions.

This will help cover essential costs such as lodging, venue, and community programming over three days of workshops, discussions, and collective skill-sharing.

We understand the challenges everyone is facing today. Many of us have scaled back travel and tightened budgets. That’s why we are turning to you — our extended community — for support. IAWRT has always been powered by goodwill, passion, and people who believe in what we do.
