The Young Gentlemen’s Club is a character development and enrichment program designed for 25–30 young male scholars in an underfunded elementary school district. Led by an experienced educator with over 24 years in teaching, as well as a background in military school and service with the FDNY, this program is rooted in discipline, mentorship, and real-world exposure.
The initiative aims to provide students with tools, experiences, and guidance that extend beyond the classroom—empowering them to develop self-respect, confidence, and a sense of purpose while positively impacting their community. To cultivate respectful, confident, and well-rounded young men by instilling core values, life skills, and exposure to opportunities that broaden their understanding of success and responsibility.
Participants in the Young Gentlemen’s Club will:
* Develop self-respect and respect for others
* Build confidence in their identity and abilities
* Learn and practice proper etiquette and social skills
* Understand the importance of presentation and personal grooming
* Gain exposure to professional and civic environments
* Recognize their potential to succeed and positively influence others
1.Personal Development & Character Building
* Self-awareness and goal-setting activities
* Discussions on leadership, integrity, and accountability
* Conflict resolution and emotional intelligence
2. Etiquette & Social Skills Training
* Basic manners and respectful communication
* Formal dining etiquette and table setting (silverware placement, posture, behavior)
* Appropriate conduct in various social and professional settings
3. Professional Appearance & Dress
Students will be provided with essential apparel items, including:
* Dress shirts
* Ties
* Additional formal accessories as available
These items will allow students to take pride in their appearance and understand the importance of dressing appropriately for different occasions.
4. Enrichment Activities
* Introduction to chess, including rules, strategy, and sportsmanship
* Group discussions and role-playing scenarios
* Team-building exercises
5. Experiential Learning Opportunities (Field Trips)
To reinforce learning and provide real-world exposure, students will participate in:
* District Court Visit:
Students will observe courtroom proceedings to better understand laws, consequences, and civic responsibility.
* Governor’s Mansion Visit (New Jersey):
A unique opportunity to experience a formal and professional environment, exposing students to higher levels of social and civic engagement.
* Formal Group Dinner:
A culminating experience where students will demonstrate learned etiquette, dress formally, and celebrate their growth and accomplishments.
By the end of the program, students will:

* Show increased motivation toward academic and personal success
