Building Community for Black Americans in SF

I’ve lived in San Francisco for five years, and as a Black man, it’s been a lonely journey. It’s hard to find friends or even date, because not many people are open to getting to know someone who looks like me. There’s a sense of being judged before you even have a chance to share your story. That isolation is something I want to change—not just for myself, but for other young Black Americans who dream of living in this city.

Historically, San Francisco’s Black community was centered in the Fillmore District and Hunters Point. But decades ago, urban renewal projects tore those neighborhoods apart, displacing families and driving up prices. The result is a city where it’s nearly impossible for Black Americans to find affordable housing or a sense of belonging. I want to reverse that trend and help rebuild what was lost.

My goal is to buy a house in San Francisco. With this house, I’ll offer affordable rooms to Black Americans aged 18 to 30 who want to move here and start a new life. This isn’t just about housing; it’s about creating a safe, supportive community where people are valued and accepted for who they are. I’m asking for your support to help reverse the wrongs of the past and build a future where everyone has a place to belong. Every donation brings us closer to making this vision a reality.
