- Hi, my name is rod and I was asked to help build an orphanage in Sierra Leone. I’m in construction and have been doing remodeling for 20 years. I met a man who travels to Africa….
- Throughout the year he builds wells and schools and orphanages and churches. One day He asked me to help him with the material list for the orphanage and after I did, he asked if I would be interested in going with him to help him build it.
- I have never in my life, travelled to another country nor have I been involved outreach or anything like this. But I figured I would at least go and do what I could to help. I got my passport a few days ago in the mail, but I need to raise some money to be able to travel and get some gear and hopefully help with shipping materials. I’ve never had social media or one of these fundraising pages but I figured I would give it a shot and see if anybody wanted to lend a hand. It is an orphanage and in Sierra Leone orphans are coming out of the trees because there are so many. How could I say no? If you’re interested in helping in any way please do and if I can, I would love to share the trip and all the good that will be done. I have a YouTube page that doesn’t get much action, but it is good enough to post pictures and videos of the prep, trip, and the result. I’ve never been one to donate myself however, recently, I’ve realized how blessed and Fortunate I am. Even though I’m over 40 now, God has put something in my path that allows me to give back where it counts. We need a lot of help here in America, but unfortunately, no one seems to want it and all of the formats for helping here are usually corrupt and don’t help much anyway. There’s something very pure about building a shelter for those who do not have one and doing it with your hands. Thank you For your consideration and please don’t feel obligated. Only donate if The Lord or your own heart compels you. Thank you
They are building the bricks with their own hands as I write this. I will only have to go to layout where the building will go and how it is designed. They will do most of the brick and when they are finished, I will go back again and put on the roof and anything else needed. I was told I will have help with my airfare the first time and I have already bought and received my passport. I still have to get a backpack and footwear and supplies for me as i hike in. Machete, mosquito net etc., etc. I Will have to ship my tools and necessary materials that we cannot find there. Any help is appreciated and I will itemize a list of what was purchased with whatever has been donated. Thank you so so much
