Building a New Life: Single Mom Plus 2 Kiddos

My name is Maya and I’m a single mother to two wonderful children. After many years in a relationship marked by domestic violence, my children and I made the difficult but necessary decision to leave.

Every day there are families and people that suffer in silence from domestic violence in the home. I’m speaking out and asking for help. The help my children deserve.

We had to walk away from almost everything we knew (from a fourteen year relationship) to prioritize our safety and well-being. My child and I are survivors.

Since then, my daughter and I have been living in a single room at a temporary home, while my son has been staying with his grandmother. Although we’ve been temporarily separated, we've remained strong and hopeful — and now, we are finally moving into a place of our own.

This marks a new beginning: a safe, stable home where we can live together again as a family. However, we are starting from scratch. Due to the circumstances under which we left, we were unable to take most of our belongings and are now in need of essential household items to rebuild our lives.

I’m raising funds to cover:

*Moving costs, such as truck rental, etc.

*A down payment or first month’s rent and deposit

*Basic furniture (beds, a dining table, seating)

*Essential household items (dishes, cookware, linens, etc.)

We are not asking for luxuries — just the basics that will help us create a safe, nurturing space to call home.
