Build Wells in Sarre Mawdo!

I'm Ian Garvey from the US, and i'm raising funds for my good friend Sulayman in

Sarre Mawdo, Gambia.

Sulayman is a kind, creative, passionate, and courageous young man carrying so much on his shoulders to uplift his community. Every day it is a struggle to have the basic resources necessary to live, for him and his entire village. In extreme heat with no direct acces to a water source, he has to walk many kilometers daily just to get drinking water, or bathe. The village's gardens are suffering without water. Not only does the lack of this necessary resource for life threaten dehyrdation, but crops to sustain the coming seasons are threatened by this drought, too. This is not a sustainable way of living for anyone. Sulayman is exhausted from constantly fighting for survival. Despite all of the pain and loss, Sulayman's compassionate heart trusts the community of international solidarity to respond to this CALL TO ACTION!

FUNDRAISING TO BUILD WELLS IN SARRE MAWDO!

Sulayman is leading a campaign to raise $10,000 to build wells and secure a sustainable source of clean water for his village. Right now, many in his community struggle daily with limited or unsafe access to water — a basic necessity that many of us take for granted.

This campaign isn’t just about infrastructure. It’s about dignity, health, and human life. Sulayman’s village is home to people with families, dreams, and resilience — people who deserve the same access to life-sustaining resources as anyone else. They are not statistics or distant faces; they are human beings, inherently worthy of the essentials that support life and well-being.

How will the money be transferred?

Because Gambia isn’t a country supported by Gofundme fundraisers, I’ll be collecting the money in a savings account I only use for fundraising and transfer the funds to Sulayman by using Remitly, where he will pick up physical cash in Brikama.

I have verified that Sulayman is indeed a real person trying to make a real difference for his community. We’ve talked on the phone, I sent him money through Remitly which requires confirming legal name and location, and he sent me pictures of the food he bought from the market to feed everyone.
