Gift of Water - Water Well Project for Bangladesh

We are taking part in a 10K Marathon in Edinburgh to raise money to build water wells to provide clean water for families in Bangladesh.

For most of us, clean water has no weight. We turn on a tap and out it runs. It's an everyday action we take for granted. Yet 844 million individuals around the world go without clean water, according to One Nation. For these people, who have to spend extraordinary amounts of time walking to collect and carry water for their families, water has a physical weight. And when they get it, it is often dirty. In Bangladesh, pond, river and surface-level water is usually salty and often contaminated with arsenic and, during storms and floods, organic waste.

Clean drinking water is a basic human right. A lack of clean drinking water can spread disease such as malaria, cholera and dysentery. Help me build a deep-water well in Bangladesh to give an underprivileged village access to clean water.

Please help me tackle water poverty today. Providing a deep water well is a very good way of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity) as you can expect to reap Allah's blessings for as long as the well supplies water. It is a gift that not only benefits others in this life but also benefits us long after we are gone. Please help to ensure that those heartbreakingly facing poverty and famine will have access to clean water all year round, just as we and our families fortunately do.
