Dear friends,
This July, I’m traveling to Guatemala to help build a home for a remarkable woman named Guadalupe Galindo and her family—people who have endured more hardship than most of us can imagine, yet continue to persevere with courage and hope.
Guadalupe is 36 years old and has spent her life working tirelessly as a house cleaner, doing whatever she can to care for her family. Despite her strength and determination, she has never known the security of having a home to call her own.
She currently lives in a small rental in San Miguel Dueñas with her sister Leyvi, her 6-year-old niece Mia, and their aging parents, Doña Elba (57) and Don Juan Antonio (64). The home floods whenever it rains, soaking the floors and filling the space with damp, unhealthy air. The flooding has already taken a toll—little Mia is developing lung issues, and the fear of every storm weighs heavily on them all.
Their father, Don Juan Antonio, suffered a traumatic brain injury during an assault years ago and can no longer work. The family does their best to care for him, but the room he and Doña Elba sleep in is built from rusting tin sheets, offering no insulation, protection, or privacy.
But this July, that can begin to change—with your help.
I’m partnering with a team to build Guadalupe and her family a simple, solid home. A dry, safe place where they can finally rest without fear. A space to breathe, to heal, and to thrive.
I’m deeply grateful for the life I’ve been given, and this opportunity to give back in a tangible way. If you’re able to contribute—whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign—you’ll be part of something truly life-changing.
Every dollar raised will go directly to the cost of the build. Together, we can give this family what everyone deserves: a safe place to call home.
With gratitude, Kathy-Sue
