Build Homes in Memory of Soren
Donation protected
Our dear friends Kathryn and Doug lost their young son, Soren, unexpectedly in April of 2020. Just before he died, Soren and his dad went to Norsara Costa Rica to help build homes for families that lacked a safe, affordable place to live. It was a reflection of Soren's generosity and kindness. In his memory, every June a group of his friends and family travel to a small town in Costa Rica to build homes for people in need.
Here's how it works:
Doug and Kathryn's friend Maximo, from Mercy Homes Ministries in Nosara, Costa Rica, seeks out people in his community who are truly in need and deserving of a home. (This includes single mothers, disabled individuals, and folks that have otherwise been struggling to survive.)
Our group fundraises money in the US to cover building materials for the homes. We then travel to Costa Rica and to work with Maximo and his team to construct 2 homes in one week.
So! We need to raise some money for these homes! And that is where you come in. Maximo has done an incredible job getting the price of each house down to only about $9,000 - but that means between the 25 of us, we need to raise $18,000.
This is a very special trip for us, Soren's family and friends, and the people who we are able gift these homes to. Whether you knew Soren or may know someone else impacted by the loss of a loved one due to suicide, we appreciate your support. Thanks so much for your generosity.
