As a carer for someone with high support needs autism and being autistic myself, I founded Autistic Haus upon realising the limitations of NDIS in efficiently and sustainably delivering adequate supports for autistic people. The majority of autistic people are not deemed eligible for NDIS, and are told that "foundational supports" should cover their significant support and community access needs.
These foundational supports still don't exist, there's no model for them (there is a concept of plans for foundational supports for children, far from being realised or comprehensive) outside of the one I've developed in Autistic Haus.
I have aligned with international leaders in the field of autism such as Professor Tony Attwood who has decades of experience, to develop a meticulous ready-to-build housing community with inclusive supports and specifically designed for autistic accessibility to reduce processing burdens.
By creating central communal facilities, we boost the resources available to everyone while making the most of nature-set small homes, and unlocking a locus for delivering support with maximum efficiency.
Our unique model excludes no autistic person and saves NDIS costs for residents who do have individual plans.
We are a start up initiative, a DGR registered charity with a 100% volunteer board of members and directors who all have lived experience with disability, neurodiversity, or caring for people who do.
We need your help to cover the initial costs involved in reaching the right people and presenting our life-saving initiative the right ways, to be in the position to successfully apply for grants, to secure a development site, and to independently raise funds.
