Hi My name is Faayo Houssein. I am Mohamed Sani Housseins Second Eldest Daughger.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Surely we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return).

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved father, mentor, and community leader, Mohamed Sani Houssein. Born on April 10th, 1959, Mohamed Sani left this world on August 29th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a lasting impact on the Oromo community in Toronto and beyond.

As one of the founding fathers of Tokkuma, later renamed Oromia FC, Mohamed Sani’s love for soccer was more than a passion—it was a mission to unite and uplift the Oromo community through the beautiful game. His tireless work, both on and off the field, played a key role in establishing the Oromo Soccer Federation of North America (OSFNA) in 1995, helping to build a strong foundation for Oromo soccer in Toronto and across North America.

As a goalkeeper, coach, and mentor, Mohamed Sani was more than a player—he was a father figure and a guiding light to many. His wisdom, kindness, and leadership were felt by everyone who had the privilege to know him. His spirit and commitment to community went beyond soccer, embodying a genuine love for bringing people together, fostering unity, and encouraging a sense of belonging.

Our Goal: Building a Memorial Well and Supporting Soccer Youth in Galamso, Ethiopia.

To honor Mohamed Sani’s lifelong commitment to community and giving back, we aim to build a memorial well in Galamso, Ethiopia. His birthplace. This well will provide a sustainable source of clean water to those in need, a fitting tribute to a man whose life was dedicated to helping others.

In addition to the well, we are raising funds to support young children and teens who play soccer in Dire Dawa, & Galamso by providing them with soccer balls, soccer outfits, and food. These resources are essential to helping them pursue their passion for the game while also ensuring that their basic needs are met. Mohamed Sani believed in the power of sports to uplift and inspire youth, and this initiative will carry forward his vision of empowering the next generation of soccer players. His children plan to travel to Erhiopia on behalf of their father & directly donate the charity we collect to young Teams/Clubs that play soccer in the very field my father played at. We want to offer the resources my father and his friends would have needed when they were younger. I know our father always spoke on this and it was his dream to unite & help his people to guide them to their dreams!

How Your Donations Will Make an Impact:

Every dollar raised will go directly to these two causes:
- The construction of the memorial well in Galamso, Ethiopia, providing clean water to families and communities in need.
- Purchasing soccer balls, uniforms, and food for children and teens involved in soccer programs in Ethiopia. These contributions will give them the opportunity to play the game they love while receiving the nourishment they need.

By contributing to this cause, you are not only honoring Mohamed Sani’s memory but also helping to make a tangible impact on the lives of young people and families in Ethiopia supporting both their physical needs and their dreams.
