For my senior project, I have decided to build a mobile stage. The stage has built-in power strips, anchors for amps, speakers, monitors, a mapping for drum kit map, and extra storage space. The stage would be able to be hitched onto a car and driven from location to location. Because of its portability and customization opportunity, the mobile stage would be used to give free music for small benefit events, be rented to non-profit organizations, or even sold to the school as a new way to do more community-oriented activities. The stage could be used in tandem with events such as protests, community benefit events, needle exchanges, and blood drives.
A mobile stage would be an excellent way to spread music throughout Portland. From a young age, music has been a huge part of my life. From my dad introducing me to Van Halen, Queen, and AC/DC, to my time at School of Rock. Since 2013, I have been taking lessons in drums, bass, and vocals, and performing with School of Rock.
The stage itself will be a foldable, movable stage, made of wood, with support legs made of metal. Once fully unfolded, the stage will be around 16’ x 10’, with a slight lip on the front, and indicators for where monitors, amps, and speakers will be, as well as enough room for a drum kit. Along the sides of the stage will be detachable power outlets that connect to a small generator to power the show. The stage will be structurally sound and able to withstand at least 4 people jumping around and rocking out on top.
