Imagine living in a metal shed, barely bigger than a large bedroom, where the summer sun turns the inside into an oven. This is the reality for our friends' family. David Harder, his wife, and his family of 5 children live in southern Mexico near Hopelchén Campeche. They currently all live in a 20x14 tin shed that offers little protection from the elements, especially during the hot summer months. Temperatures here can reach 40 degrees Celsius making the heat inside almost unbearable, making it difficult to sleep, eat, or even just breathe comfortably.
Adding to their struggles, David has a serious heart condition and has significantly impaired vision making it next to impossible to find steady work to provide for his family. They dream of a simple home, a place where they can escape the heat and live with dignity and some privacy.
We're launching this GoFundMe to help them build that dream. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase enough building materials for a small but well-insulated home that can better handle the intense heat.
Funds will be used for:
Lumber
Roofing materials
Insulation
Windows and doors
Other essential building supplies
Together we can help them build a house that they can face the new year in. $10,000 may seem like a large amount to one person but if this is seen
by a 100 people who can donate a $100 each we will have collected enough to fulfill their dream. No amount is too small. Please consider donating and sharing this with your family and friends.
Thank you for donating and for your kindness and support.
