I want to bring something new and fresh to our community—a safe, smooth place for kids to play roller hockey, exercise, and connect. Right now, there’s no facility like this anywhere in the state. This rink would offer leagues, pick-up games, open skate, lessons, clinics, and tournaments all in one place. It’s a fast-growing sport, and once kids see and experience it, I know they’ll be hooked. Hockey is more than a game—it’s culture, it’s family, and it’s community.
The funds raised will go directly toward making this dream a reality. We’ll use them to secure a location, pour the foundation, and install sport court flooring that absorbs more impact than concrete, making it safer for everyone. We’ll also build the boards around the rink, add safety netting to keep pucks inside, and create bench areas, a penalty box, and bleachers for parents. Bathrooms, lighting, and parking space are a must, and we’ll cover any permits, fees, and taxes as well. This is just phase one, but it’s a huge step forward for our area’s youth.
I know this is a long shot, but hockey is something I truly believe can make an impact here—both culturally and economically. This rink could become a hub for roller hockey in Louisiana, drawing players from all over. The initial cost may seem high, but it will leave behind something special for the youth of our area for years to come. There’s no safe, smooth place to skate here, and I know firsthand how important that is. Louisiana concrete just isn’t made for roller skating! Hockey is fast-paced, everyone plays, and nobody rides the bench. If we all do just a little bit, we can make this big dream a reality.
