Their oldest son Antonio is the only one of this siblings living at the Fundacion. Antonio is taking advantage of his opportunity to attend a great school and hopes to attend college in America some day. For Antonio this is completley possible.

When Antonio arrived at the Fundacion he only spoke Q'anjob'al. He has since worked hard and is now fluent in Spanish and English! He is also currently taking German and piano lessons. In addition to being a language wizard, he is voluntarially taking extra classes to finish school more quickly. He is currently 14 and in 4th grade. When he came to the Fundacion 5 years ago he had never attended school. Starting school late was hard work, but he has met the challange and should graduate on time.

Heather says, "I have never met someone that has not only a vision for his path but also the motivation and capability to reach that vision." Antonio is an exceptional yong man with great potential.

Heather recently traveled with Antonio to his home town to obtain the necessary papers for him to register for school this year. While visiting his family, she learned of some serious and immediate needs they have.

1. They currently live in a home that does not belong to them and they will soon be evicted. His mother owns land where a home could be built on, but cannot afford it alone.

$1,000 will build them a small concrete home with two stories, two windows with bars and a metal door with a dirt floor.

We would like to raise $1,500 in total for the home which will add a floor in their home!

2. They do not have access to clean water and are in need of filtered water.

$80 will purchase two EcoFiltro water filters to meet their needs.

3. Three of his younger siblings do not have the necessary papers to begin attending school.

$350 will pay for a lawyer, the papers, the medical exam, and all the government fees required to obtain all of their papers.

4. His family has no first aid items (bandaids, thermometer, medicines etc.) or hygene items (toothbrushes, towels, etc.)

$60 will buy them the basic necessities.

5. They frequently borrow pots, pans, plates, and cups from the neighbors.

$90 will purchase them a full set of all necessary kitchen equiptment.

6.  $200 will pay for labor expenses to build the house

7.  $50 will cover round trip transportation expenses for everyone helping to build the home.

8.  $750 will provide them with a stove and other necessary kitchen supplies.

Antonio's decision to live at the Fundacion is not an easy one despite the many opportunities it provides him. When he came, he was the oldest of his siblings living at home and did a great deal to help provide and care for his family. His decision to stay at the Fundacion and get an educaiton will have a significant positive affect on his whole family. Instead of supporting their needs temporarily, going to college will allow Antonio to provide for his family more longterm. He knows this, but it isn't easy.

Providing a home, access to school, clean water, and some basic necessities for Antonio's family will release a great burden from Antonio that he should not need to carry alone.

Will you consider being a part of this awesome story?
