Build a Home for Mili
Donation protected
My wife Krista and I have been traveling to the quaint village of Yelapa, Mexico, for the past two decades. During our last few visits, we had the privilege of meeting and getting to know Mili (short for Milagro, which means miracle in Spanish), her mother, Marlin and her brother, Jorge. Mili is four years old and has Down Syndrome. Some of our favorite people in the world have Down Syndrome. With her infectious smile, fantastic dance moves, and gregarious personality, Mili quickly joined that list!
In getting to know this lovely family, we quickly learned that their living situation is less than ideal. Currently, the 3 of them, along with Mili's grandfather and older brother, live in a cinderblock structure covered with tarps. Marlin sells used clothing to feed her family, and Jorge, who is 8, sells shells on the beach when he is not in school. They are an extremely impoverished family, struggling to make ends meet while raising a child with special needs.
When we learned all this, we knew we had to do something to help. After speaking with friends in the Yelapa community, we decided the most beneficial thing we could do for Mili and her family is to help them with safe, adequate housing. We have been researching reputable contractors, and our hope is to raise enough funds to begin the building process sometime in late 2022. With your help, we would love to have Mili in her new home before she turns 5. If you have any questions or would like to know more about our plans, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Muchas Gracias!!!
