The Center for Constitutional Governance (CCG) is a constitutional watchdog based in Kampala, Uganda.
Our core mission is to strengthen constitutional governance by bridging the critical gap between what the law promises (policy) and what happens in practice.
In our day-to-day work, we grapple with many questions. For example, what is the true cost of a government that ignores its own laws? It’s not just a political issue—it’s the face of a mother denied justice, a young person silenced, or an entire community left behind because their rights were not secured. At CCG, we fight for the fundamental human dignity protected by the law, provide spaces for citizens participation in their governance through Civic Space TV and hold leaders accountable to the laws of the land.
The Centre for Constitutional Governance (CCG) is an essential pillar of Uganda’s democratic resilience. Our work involves more than just advocating for the defense of the constitution and promoting constitutionalism; it also involves developing the next generation of democratic leaders and creating a long-lasting culture of respect for the constitution from the classroom, to the grassroot and to the National Assembly. We seek partners who believe that strong, resilient democracies are built from the ground up.
The objective is to obtain flexible funding so that CCG's infrastructure and personnel can continue to be autonomous, stable, and prepared to handle new governance issues. Donors investing in Core Funding are investing in the staying power of the pro-democracy movement in Uganda.
