Tandem is in the final leg of its journey toward opening a birth center. After limited grant success in 2022, we scored a $100,000 grant in October 2022 from the Gannett Foundation and were able to make substantial progress. Again, there's been a grant drought in 2023, and now it's time to raise the final $20,000. Our contractors are ready to complete work NEXT MONTH, at the end of September 2023, but without this money, we will have to stop work and send them home.

Our ask was originally going to be $35,000, but thanks to GENEROUS donors who have stepped up, we're already down to $20,000. Many thanks to The Rawe Family, Lotus Studio of Perennial Arts and Crafts, The Sunkel Family in Honor of Dan Sunkel, Elisabeth Mills and Ian Crossfield, Ellen Mills, John Case, Jamie Morris, Angela Castañeda and Anonymous for their support! Special thanks also to Melissa and Preston Larimer for their generosity when our funding fell short in the Spring.

We could have 1000 people donate $20, or 20 people donate $1000. Any amount makes a difference. Most importantly, share this with your friends. The more people who participate, the better.

What's our construction schedule?

Installing Drywall: Aug 25 - Sept 6 (let us know if you have drywalling experience and want to help reduce our labor costs, or if you can help us get donated or discounted supplies)
Painting: Sept 7-10. Sept 9,10 are official volunteer paint days! Let us know if you have rollers, paint trays brushes or other supplies we can use
Flooring: Sept 11-15 volunteers welcome! Electrical and plumbing fixtures will also happen this week... we still need a sponsor for our second birth tub!
Final trim, furnishings and decorating: Last two weeks of September
October 2023: City, County and State and state occupancy inspections and licensing! (This could take longer, but we're doing our best to be prepared!)

Our mission is to improve maternal outcomes by trusting patients, increasing options for care, and challenging the status quo. We want to catch babies, help families, and build communities.
