The community kitchen supports those who are often forgotten and neglected by the system that we live in. By providing practical support that both feeds people in need but also involves them, we provide much needed mutual aid and community solidarity. Everyone is welcome to get involved, whether that be volunteering in the kitchen or just enjoying a meal together.
The Buffalo Community Kitchen brings people from all walks of life together over a freshly made, homestyle meal.
We aim to break down the barriers and reinforced social structures built to keep people separate by providing collective support and nourishment in a warm and welcoming place of diversity, inclusion and genuine community. Each meal is created with intention to fortify the body and soul of whoever walks through the club’s doors.
As we approach our one year anniversary for the kitchen, the weekly meal has become a small beacon of hope for the community, operating within Fremantle’s iconic quasi social centre The Buffalo Club.
While we endeavour to keep our costs as low as possible (sourcing from services such as Port Care and receiving generous use of the club’s facilities) we do have to buy ingredients every week. We acknowledge that not everyone can volunteer, and so donating is a way to be involved in the kitchen. Donations will go straight to providing meals to the community.
Thank you for your kind donation towards the kitchen, from our team of volunteers.
