Bucks for Buck's

After almost 29 years doing business as Buck’s of Woodside - in an instant - we had to let everyone go into this new unpredictable world. Margaret and my main concern are the 42 employees who are as dear to us as family. Many have been with us for decades and our Buck's family is struggling.

So we are holding out our hand on their behalf. All donations go entirely to them (though I did consider buying a life-sized portrait of myself to hang in my golf club).
Buck's revenue has been declining over the last few years and costs have been dramatically spiraling. Still, we all loved our jobs and fully intended to keep at them. As the 30th year of Buck's was approaching Margaret and I were working on a bold new reboot with our three sons, Dylan, Tyler and Rowan and turning over mission control to them. They are the founders of several restaurants in San Francisco: The Woodhouse Fish Company, West of Pecos and The Wooden Spoon. They would infuse the joint with their boundless energy and exciting new food with the hope of taking the Buck’s into the future for another 29 years. But that is a subject for another time.
What I miss most is seeing all of you. When I was in high school I imagined the ideal job: wander around drinking coffee, talking to amazing people: kids, old folks and the people crafting the future of the human race and get paid for it. Also I got to travel the world to bizarre places and report back. And as a business owner I paid wholesale for almost everything. But, alas, the enterprise sank faster than a ’56 Buick station wagon full of nuns driving across a pond with a 2” ice cap!
Right now, as owners of Buck's, Margaret and I have to do everything we can to help our Buck’s family through this difficult time.   All of this money goes directly to the employees, and none to us or to overhead.  As soon as the funds are released we plan to divvy them up based on need and longevity, and mail a check to each employee.

Please consider helping them.
