Buckets and Bags of Love 2024

Buckets and Bags of Love is a non profit organisation in Kwangwanase, South Africa.

This very small organisation started in 2013 with handing out buckets with food and schoolbags with supplies to the less fortunate in our communitie(s).

In the buckets/tubs are basic food and supplies such as; 10kg porridge (maize), 10kg samp, 5kg rice, seeds (to grow vegetables), soup powder, soy mince, soap (for people and clothes), toothbrushes & paste, canned food, tea, onions, candles & matches and much more.

One bucket can feed a family of 4-6 for about a month.

The families are picked out carefully by care workers (very similar to a social worker), hospitals, local clinics and churches. The families who qualify struggle everyday in life. It's not that people are lazy or don't want to work, the families that qualify are disabled people, woman (with children) who run away from a life of abuse, children without (grand)parents/family, grandparents taking care of their grandchildren because the parents past away, mothers with children who's husband past away, sick people and many more cases like this.

Until last year we did an annual fundraiser and delivery day, but our community struggles a lot since Covid and help is needed year round.

Instead of an annual delivery day buckets can now be requested and collected when needed

A buckets costs 1000 South African rand, this is more or less 50 dollar/euro. You don't have to donate for a full buckets, many people can 'fill' a bucket together
