Buck Lake Elementary Veterans Memorial Eagle Scout Project

Hello, my name is Bryce Widner, and I’m a Life Scout with Troop 10 working toward earning my Eagle Scout rank. For my Eagle Scout project, I’ve chosen something very important to me and my community: rebuilding and relocating the Veterans Memorial at Buck Lake Elementary School.

The current memorial has been in place for many years, but sadly, it has worn down over time. It doesn’t reflect the respect and honor that our school and community wants to show our veterans. That’s why the school and I are taking on the mission to restore the memorial and move it to a more prominent and visible location on the school campus.

My Vision

The new memorial will be constructed in a thoughtful, respectful design that honors all who have served. It will feature six plaques, each representing our United States Armed Forces:

Army

Navy

Air Force

Marines

Coast Guard

Space Force

The layout will include decorative mulch, edging, and landscaping to give the area a peaceful and dignified atmosphere—something that students, families, and the community can reflect on with pride.
