Dominican Republic Service Trip

Donation protected
With your help, 15 deserving high school students from the St. Michaels Travel Club will be traveling to the Dominican Republic to build aqueducts for a rural village. Our goal is to give the future leaders of the Eastern Shore community a global perspective that extends far beyond the shores of the Chesapeake.

We are located in St. Michaels, Maryland, a town of roughly 1500 people. Our town relies on tourism, crabbing, farming, and the service industries. Many in our group have never been on a plane and all have completed either Spanish III, Spanish IV or AP Spanish as a prerequisite for this trip. They are a hardworking group who have jobs outside of school to save for college and help their families.

Throughout the past year, we have raised $3000 on our own through bracelet sales, a raffle, and bake sales. But now we need our community's assistance. Our students would not be able to afford this trip without fundraising efforts. We are short $5000 to pay for plane tickets.

Students will be traveling for 7 days to Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic to learn about the struggles of another community and help in their sustainable development.
