Family Legal fees

Hi, my name is Stephanie Shane. I am fundraising for myself and for my family to help cover costs of legal fees. I am a mother to 5 amazing children and in 2021, my world changed when I went through a very difficult divorce after a 15 year marriage. I have had to learn quickly how to navigate this world as a "middle class" citizen and in learning so, I have learned of the lack of resources out there for those like us. So it's at this point that I decided to humble myself and swallow my pride and ask my friends and family for help. I do not want to get into a lot of specifics about my situation out of respect for my children, but I will share some high points as to why I'm needing this financial help at this time. In the past 2 and a half years, my ex has taken me to court twice and to mediation twice. Each time I go to court, my lawyer requires a retainer fee of $4,000 and each time I go to mediation, my portion is $300. Up until now, I have either been able to pay my own way or represent myself and the outcomes have been positive for myself and for what I think is in the best interest of my kids. This next court case I have coming up that I am going back to court for is a doozy and now my lawyer is asking for a $5,500 retainer fee. This is NOT a case that I can go without a lawyer and represent myself and risk missing something pertinent. My ex is asking for majority parenting time and to be the primary decision maker along with making false accusations that could destroy my family. So as hard as this is for me to ask for help, I would appreciate anything that you can give....even if that means sending your prayers or love or positive energy my way.
