Hi, my name is Gerard Murphy a TY student from Kinsale community school I will be travelling to Tanzania East Africa to do volunteer work with the Terette foundation in February with a group of 15 fellow TY students. The Terette foundation is a self-sustain-able NGO charity founded by two passionate women Lenore from Cork, and Teddy from Kilimanjaro. It is based in the Moshi community in the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro. It was born as a desire to make a difference in the lives of ‘at risk’ children in need who are not afforded the same opportunities in life due to the lottery of where they live. The main aim of the trip in February is to support the effort of providing a safe house and classrooms as seen in the background of the clip for at risk and under privileged children . We will also be going to buy and deliver food to those in genuine needs, visit and help in a local primary school and visit the maishe outreach Centre where they make made to measure wheelchairs for children with disabilities all monies will go directly to the Teretta foundation for food ,classroom furniture, school book stationary, wheelchairs, and Christmas presents for the children. Lenore the leader has arrived, and you can see the newly built school and refuge in the background.
