Food Pantry Project at Shagbark Farm

Donation protected
Hey y’all!
My name is Nick DePalma, and I grow produce for local food pantries in my free time.

I am currently in the process of building and growing the farm, and expenses are adding up. I have covered many of the expenses for establishing this project already, and reaching out for a little help completing everything.

In my previous donation farm project, I was able to donate 800lbs in one season to the food pantries of Stone Ridge and Ellenville, NY. I dropped off my produce to them weekly.

As a major improvement, this year I have already established a relationship with Ulster Corps and the Rochester Food Pantry, who will pickup my produce weekly, making it possible for me to focus more on the growing. Each pantry will be picking up 3-4 farm crates full of produce weekly, as I aim to donate 2,000lbs this year. The new farm being more than twice the size of the previous farm, i’m confident that will happen. Additionally, the 40’x100’ berry patch, over 20 fruit trees I’ve planted since we moved in, and the over 60 culinary mushroom logs being innoculated this spring, will all help add bounty and diversity to my donations.

In my view, food pantries of the past are in the rear view. Fresh, diverse, nutrient-rich produce are far more common for people when coming to a pantry for support. All people deserve the options and bounty available on this planet, circumstances aside.

So there it is—Any donation is appreciated, and all who donate are welcome to pay the farm a visit and will not be leaving empty handed.
Much love!
