Hi. My name is Shannon and I am fundraising for my mother. My mother is raising 2 of my sister’s children. My niece Ava and my nephew Nicky. Ava is almost 13 and Nicky is 26. Nicky is severely disabled. He is non verbal and on the Autism Spectrum. He requires 24 hour care and a feeding tube for survival. Ava is a beautiful young lady whose only wish is to have a mom and a dad. Ava and Nicky’s mom is out of the picture due to a lifetime of a drug addiction and Ava’s dad is non existent.

My mother has been raising both of these kids since they were born.

Recently, my mother and the kids were evicted from their home. It was not because they did not pay the rent but rather the house had been sold.

The landlord asked my mother 3 days before she was having a heart surgery to move out. My mother’s heart surgery was almost 5 hours long and after the surgery she needed time to recover. Obviously she was in no condition to look for a place to live. As a result, the landlord had her evicted.

Since Covid, the housing market has become crazy. My mother can not find a home for her and the children. I have spent thousands paying for them to stay in rented AirBnb’s but unfortunately I have exhausted all of my funds and can not help financially anymore. 

I am asking for donations so that my mother has enough money to pay for a security  deposit and rent for a couple of months so that she can get back on her feet.

They have put all of their belongings in storage and are spending all the money they have on storage units, application fees for houses and ridiculous amounts on Airbnb’s. They are moving into a motel on Thursday. They are frustrated and sad and want so badly to find a place to call home. 

The housing market for those that want to rent has become beyond ridiculous. If you know anyone in the Concord, Kannapolis, Charlotte area that has a 3 bedroom apartment or house please reach out to me.
