When Cody and I got married in June of 2016 we knew we wanted children very soon! After trying to conceive for six months we found out we were pregnant in May of 2018! At 8 weeks pregnant we suffered a miscarriage. Within a matter of 6 months we grieved the loss of Cody’s mom Roxanne, my younger brother Kent and our first child. We were absolutely devastated.
Cody and I tried for over a year and were unable to conceive again. We tried 6 different rounds of fertility medications, while simultaneously beginning the adoption process in August of 2019. In January 2020 we matched with a birthmom that was due in July! After a month of texting with the birthmom and planning for our soon-to-arrive baby we found out the birthmom had not been honest with us and there would not be a baby arriving in July. Again...we were crushed. But two weeks later, on our 6th round of fertility medication we found out we were pregnant again! And yet again... at 8 weeks pregnant we endured another miscarriage.
We decided to continue to pursue growing our family through adoption. After meeting with numerous birthmoms in and out of state we met with a birthmom that had decided to place not only her unborn child, but her 1.5 year old as well. And she picked us!! But just a few days later we were told by our attorney that due to some legal issues... there was no way we would get these girls and we should walk away. But God was telling Cody and I otherwise. So we trusted Him and just kept praying that He would “show up and show off!” And he did! About 3 weeks later we got a call that both birth parents agreed to sign permanent surrender and we could pick up our toddler the next day!
We have had her at home for most two weeks now and expect her baby sister to join us in October!
This has been such a powerful display of God’s goodness and faithfulness in our life! But it also came with twice the adoption fee that we had originally anticipated. We had cut our spending and saved enough to pay for the first adoption on our own... but with the baby coming as well (and a second adoption expense) we are finding ourselves unsure how God will provide in this season. But we know he will!
If you feel led to help us financially to support our growing family all we can say is thank you thank you thank you! Our plan is to be able to support other adoptive families in the coming years the same way we have been supported!
If you don’t feel like to give financially or are unable, that’s totally fine! We just ask that you continue to pray with us and over us as well as our girls and their birth parents in this time.
God is doing a good work! Thank you for being a part of it with us!
Love,
Cody and Kendra
