Hi, my name is Kiani Horton, I’m the only daughter out of 4 boys and a additional to come to Kevin Horton and I’m fundraising for my father and his 8-month-pregnant girlfriend Brook, who were viciously attacked by a pit bull on Monday, October 6th in Virginia.

What should have been a normal day turned into a nightmare when an unleashed pit bull lunged at them without warning. My dad sustained serious injuries while trying to protect his pregnant partner, who was also bitten during the attack. Both victims required emergency medical care and are now dealing with physical injuries, emotional trauma, and mounting medical bills. This Pitt Bull started getting super defensive out of no where constantly barking at Brook. The dog then leaped at Brook and started its attack on her. My Father stepped in to help Brook out because she is pregnant and the dog then leaped at my father and attached himself to my dad. The dog would not let go of my father so Brook jumped onto the dogs back. My father ran to get a knife while this Pitt Bull dragged Brook across the yard. The first knife broke so he ran and got another and stabbed the dog with that being his only choice to save Brook’s life and their baby. They were then rushed to the hospital.

My dad’s finger was left attached hanging on by a piece of skin with inch deep bite marks on both of his thighs. Brook was mauled from her shoulders to her ankles with inch deep chunks bitten out of her skin. She has over 20 bite marks that were sewn back together. Her wrist was broken in 3 different places with 10 plates and screws to put it back together. She will have to learn how to re-walk and re-use her right arm. She will have to stay in a wheelchair for the next 99 months due to the severity of the injuries.

Due to the trauma and stress put on her body from the attack. Doctors are going to induce her birth next week on October 16th making the arrival 3 and a half weeks early.

They are unable to work while they recover, and with a baby on the way, this incident has created a major financial and emotional strain on our entire family.
