Project Brupeg has worked, weve been able to train Navy Cadets, remove many tonnes of plastic debris off really remote Great Barrier Reef Islands, contribute data to UNESCO for debris research, support a number of full time crew and we want to me able to keep doing this work with our upcoming long range drone build, our vege oil conversion and other projects that come our way.
We've hit a couple of snags that are all compounding at once and we can’t build our way out of it...
* We need to complete an unschedule emergency haul out to repair our rudder as a failed bearing has stopped us from being able to steer Brupeg. We are hauling out as you read this.
* Jess's health is really struggling with the unrelenting heat and humidity of living in the tropics (especially as we come into the southern summer), and Dame is not far behind her... working in the engine room in the tropics can get up to 55 degrees celcius at times and just wipes anyone out trying to complete boat work in that temp.
* Because we are no longer leaving Australia, we need to get state registration to stay in Queensland. To get this registration we need to get 10 million dollar wreck removal insurance however because of Brupeg’s age we cannot get this level of cover. Without this cover we need to move the boat out of the state. It's just too hot and remote for us to go north to the Northern Territory so we need to head south. The neighbouring state NSW does not allow you to live onboard and the next state south (Victoria) has similar rules.
So we need to smash out a rapid unscheduled haul and repair mission and then steam Brupeg 2000 nautical miles south to Tasmania, but this also means a lot becomes possible.
* In Tas we are able to set up a southern land base which makes our vege oil trials and fueling of Brupeg with waste oil possible.
* The drone build gets a big leg up with a land base as we can increase the speed we can build the airframe as well as flight test the finished product in the isolated bays of the south. The voyage south is also key as we drop into Duncan’s workshop on the way to build the foam plug and then the fibreglass moulds with Robin in Sydney.
* The base at the end of the world also makes it possible to finish Brupegs systems and interior and there are a number of really interesting projects we can complete in that southern part of the world, seeing places that are extremely remote that very few boats go to or can even get to and we can film all of it.
This change is a big one but we see it as a way to massively increase what we can do with the project.
* Remote areas gain a boat with Brupegs capabilities
* The drone will come alive and multiply what we can offer and donate to the right projects
* Long term commitments weve made like building and running a full vege oil powered boat become possible
* We are able to take on volunteer crew again to share all of it with you.

So if you would love to see us complete the mission, we would love to have your support!
