Hi everyone, my name is Brooklyn Hefley I’m 27 years old and I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help like this, but recently my apartment building caught fire and my life was turned upside down overnight. While my unit didn’t burn, it suffered severe smoke damage, and almost everything I own has been affected by the smoke and is no longer safe to use. The smell is overwhelming, and it’s not a safe environment to stay in right now. Over the past five years, I’ve worked incredibly hard to build a stable life for myself, and in a matter of hours, so much of that was taken from me. This situation has been overwhelming in ways I can’t fully explain, and it’s also testing my strength and sobriety in ways I never expected. I’m doing everything I can to stay grounded and push forward, but the reality is I need help right now. I’m currently trying to replace basic necessities like clothes, food, and personal items, as well as cover temporary housing and gas while I figure out my next steps. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean more to me than I can put into words. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this would help just as much.
