Our dear Brooke and her two daughters are facing circumstances no family should ever have to endure. If you know Brooke, you know there is no such thing as her quietly entering a room. She brings with her a big, bubbly presence, an unmistakable energy, and a light that fills the space around her.

Brooke was recently the victim of a devastating act of violence and is currently hospitalized. The horrific actions of her ex-husband have resulted in numerous very serious criminal charges, including first-degree murder with deliberation.

Brooke has suffered a partially severed spinal cord injury and temporary paralysis. She will soon begin the next phase of her healing journey, receiving specialized care and rehabilitation. There are still so many unknowns about what the weeks and months ahead will look like, and her needs will continue to evolve as we learn more about her recovery.

What we do know is that Brooke and her girls need their community around them now more than ever.

Our goal is to make sure Brooke has the time, resources, and support she needs to focus entirely on healing. While also making sure her daughters are surrounded by as much stability, security, normalcy, and love as possible.

In addition to the enormous physical and emotional journey ahead, Brooke and her family are suddenly facing an overwhelming number of practical and financial challenges. Brooke will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. She will need to be moved out of her home, and her daughters will need continued care and support while their mom recovers. While Brooke had thoughtfully put many measures in place for her family, no one could have anticipated the circumstances they are now facing or the financial obligations that have come with them.

Brooke is strong. She is fiercely devoted to the people she loves, and she has built her life around caring for others.

As a mother, a coach, and a labor and delivery nurse, Brooke has spent her life walking alongside people during some of their most vulnerable, emotional, and life-changing moments. She has dedicated herself to caring for others, helping bring new life into this world, and shaping the lives of so many people around her.

Now it is our turn to show up for her.

We are creating this fundraiser to help carry the burdens Brooke and her family should not have to worry about right now. Donations will help with immediate and ongoing needs, including medical and recovery-related expenses, housing and moving costs, everyday living expenses while Brooke is unable to work, and providing stability and support for her daughters throughout her recovery.

Brooke’s girls are being lovingly cared for by their Grandma and Grandpa, who are doing everything they can to keep their lives as normal and steady as possible. They are also surrounded by an incredible tribe of family and friends who are stepping in wherever they are needed.

Brooke is so much more than what has happened to her. She is a force. She is laughter, strength, all things fun and deeply, deeply loved.
