On December 3, 2020, Brooke Elisabeth Young succumbed to a lifelong battle with mental illness. Brooke was Mother to Satya, River and Wilder, who were her inspiration and joy. She was a prolific visual artist with a beautiful voice, mind for poetry and deep connection to the natural world - a resounding force with a sacred, generous and creative soul.
As undeniable were Brooke’s gifts and talents, so were her burdens and struggles. Brooke celebrated her Motherhood with animalistic intuition and under the weight of mental illness, she walked in deep love for her children and mourned her autonomy and freedom.
This fund is being organized by her family and friends in an effort to create financial assistance for Satya (11), River (9) and Wilder’s (4) counseling and support services. We are looking to raise funds for 1 year of aid for all 3 children, including counseling, holistic therapies and other developmental, educational, and mental health services, as needed. One goal is to establish weekly behavioral therapy sessions and weekly holistic therapy sessions for each child.
This fund has been created by Ashley Hofkens (Satya and River’s aunt) on behalf of beneficiaries Satya, River, and Wilder. All donations will be split equally between each child and managed in separate accounts by Rusty Leary (Wilder’s father) and Thomas Hofkens (Satya and River’s father). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ashley at [email redacted]
Please note that GoFundMe takes a 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee for every donation. Please consider adding a small tip to your donation to cover this additional cost. Thank you so very much.
There will be a Memorial Art Show sharing Brooke's artistry from Dec 11 - Dec 13th.
