Friends, family & community:
Join us in raising money to support Brooke, Jeff and Beckett!
Brooke gave birth to twin boys via emergency c-section at just 24 weeks last October. Since then, Brooke and Jeff have been navigating an incredible loss and a heartbreaking and courageous journey. Brooke and Jeff lost their sweet boy, Hayden, a few weeks after birth while Beckett has continued to fight every day in the NICU in Victoria, BC and now at BC Children’s Hospital.
The little warrior, Beckett was transferred to BC Children's Hospital in early January in hopes to get some answers regarding his upper airway. After multiple interventions and procedures, they decided that the best choice for his growth and development was a tracheostomy. They’re hopeful that the trach will be temporary however, the timeline is unknown. With that being said, Beckett's homecoming will look a lot different.
Having a trach requires 24/7 care so Brooke and Jeff have been working to complete specific training to ensure they’re prepared. Beckett’s been growing fast (he's over 9lbs now!!) and has been slowly weaning off the ventilator but it has been a long process to get him to where he needs to be to bring him home. They have a few more procedures and milestones to get to before they’re discharged but they are on the right path.
Over the months I've watched Brooke and Jeff show up with hope and courage as they simultaneously experience grief and the uncertainty of what’s to come. They've continued to put one foot in front of the other, showing up every day to fight through every setback thrown their way. Like so many of you, I’ve wanted to help, I’ve wanted to say or do something that makes everything better. I’ve wanted to give them a piece of my heart so theirs don’t ache as much.
Time is precious and being together at home will be the most incredible gift. As they are getting closer to coming home, now is the right time to step in and help. I’m hoping that this platform allows us all to support Brooke, Jeff and Beckett collectively, so that maybe, with any luck, they can spend more time with less stress, at home, together.
My hope is that this fund allows Brooke and Jeff to purchase all of the baby items they need to complete their nursery, hire extra support if it means there is one less thing on their plate or allow Brooke extra time off work once her maternity leave benefits have ended.
Thank you for your love & support for Brooke, Jeff and baby Beckett.
With love, in memory of Hayden.
