Marley was rescued from the roadside in the Pilbra region of Western Australia as a small pup. He was raised in a loving family by the man who found and rescued him.

In 2013 Marley and his owner moved onto a boat in the Casuarina boat yard. The outer harbour quickly became Marley’s territory. From 2013 until his passing in July 2025, Marley made many friends. He was a gentle soul who would sit with those in need of support and happily play with his dog friends who regularly visited him.

Marley was looked after by many community members, Marine Rescue Bunbury, Southern Ports and the businesses of the outer harbour. He became an icon of Bunbury’s outer harbour. Marine Rescue Bunbury even named one of their rescue vessels after him – ‘Dingo Marley’.

Marine Rescue Bunbury have been in discussions with Department of Transport (who own the land at the outer harbour) and South West Development Commission (who are the leading the Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront project). We have been assured that land is being made available in the next phase of the Waterfront redevelopment for a memorial to Marley.

We are raising funds to get a bronze statue of Marley made. Initial estimate for the statue is $50,000, so this is our target.

In the event that we raise more funds than are needed, residual money will be split between Perth Dingo Rescue Ltd and SAFE Bunbury.

Marine Rescue Bunbury is not a charitable organisation, therefore donations are not tax deductible.

We would love it if the Bunbury community, especially those touched by Marley, can support us in funding the statue of Marley. The statue will ensure Marley is never forgotten.
