Brody’s Veteran’s Memorial Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
My name is Brody Cirtwell. I have been in Scouting for almost 10 years. I started in Cub Scouts when I was 8 years old and bridged into Boy Scouts in Troop 45 in Needmore, Pennsylvania when I was 10.5 years old. As a Boy Scout, I have worked my way through six ranks and earned 34 merit badges. In addition, I have held various leadership positions. Currently, I am Junior Scout Master. The last goal I have in scouts is to plan and execute a service project that partakes in benefitting the community to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank a Scout can achieve. Each year, about 6% of eligible Scouts become Eagle Scouts. Zoom out to consider the entire population of Scout-age youth in the United States, and that percentage drops to about 0.3%. So yes, becoming an Eagle Scout is extremely rare. As an Eagle Scout Candidate, I have identified a Beneficiary with a need and developed a proposal that has been approved by the Great Cove District and Mason Dixon Council to start my project. My next steps are to plan out my project, recruit volunteers, acquire the materials, supplies and memorial plaques, and act as the foreman of the project. Once the project is completed, I must participate in a Scoutmaster Conference and then complete an Eagle Scout Board Review with representatives from both my Troop and District.
The Beneficiary of my project is the Buck Valley Christian Church in Warfordsburg, Pa. Every Memorial Day, the Memorial Day Services start at this church. However, they currently do not have a Veteran’s Memorial. We also do not currently have a designated area that honors our Veterans.
I would like to conduct a meaningful Eagle Project that benefits our community and shows appreciation for the people that allowed me to participate in Scouts freely in the first place. My project is the fabrication and installment of a Veteran’s Memorial. This would include making a garden area around the flagpole at Buck Valley Christian Church, planting flowers and installing a Veteran’s Dedication plaque and multiple plaques representing each branch of the military around it. This area is located in front of the church’s cemetery where many veterans lay.
In order to make my project a reality, I am asking for the financial support of family and friends. Not only will you be supporting me with this ambitious project but most importantly honoring all veterans that have served and who currently serve our country.
I have estimated that the cost of my project will be about $3,500. If you are willing and able to donate to my project, I would be greatly appreciative. Your generosity of any amount, even $10, would help me complete my project and ultimately earn my Eagle Rank in Scouting.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project and for your consideration.
