Hi, my name's Izzy and I am a first year student at Brockenhurst College.
Brockenhurst College runs an enrichment programme called Brock2Kenya, where 25 students travel to a town called Nakuru with donations and spend time teaching and helping children there. I'm raising funds to participate in the 2025 programme, a life changing opportunity for not just me, but the children aswell.
Students from Brock have been going to Nakuru to improve the living conditions for the past 4 years, I'll be going over this year to work with these projects: Melon Mission School, Little Kings Nursery and Silver Bells Welfare Centre for orphaned children.
These projects provide education, care, food and resources for over 600 children in severely deprived areas. In 2023, the students installed a water harvesting system which the 2024 group continued to improve, and this year we hope to finish what they started.
We will also be aiming to make the schools more self-sufficient, improve facilities, and teach the kids a range of skills from English to dance. Apart from this, the trip will give me a chance to learn about Kenyan culture and experience the challenges faced in poorer parts of the world.
I aim to raise £2,100 to cover travel, accommodation and project expenses. Any donation, big or small, will help me make a difference and create a lasting impact on these children's lives.
I am getting a part time job and working through the school holidays to raise as much of the £2,100 target as I can.
I am also hoping to run a quiz night to raise funds, and will be collecting donations of items to take with me to Kenya, including clothes, sanitary products, toiletries, stationery, first aid supplies, shoes, and games.
If you work for a company or know of any companies that would be interested in sponsoring me, please let me know and we can arrange a sponsorship deal.
If I am lucky enough to earn or raise more than the £2,100 target, then all leftover donations will be given to my group leader who will then give it directly to the projects we work with.
Thank you for your support.
