What is Broadway Movement?
Broadway Movement aims to improve the community’s physical and mental well-being by facilitating exercise classes, social activities and workout equipment that is accessible to people from all walks of life.
Where is Broadway Movement located?
The London Fields pull up bars are a longstanding feature of the London Fields park. As the summer weather hits and London Fields begins to buzz with energy - especially on the weekends, alongside the excitement of Broadway Market - the park comes alive with people from all walks of life. You’ll be sure to find members of the Broadway Movement Community either at the pull up bars; on the grass, doing handstands; or at La Bouche coffee shop, refuelling.
What are we raising funds for?
Physical Health :
- Payment for community class coaches
- New equipment
- Community chalk
- Maintenance and cleaning costs
- Administration costs
- Water and snacks
- First aid training and first aid kit
Broadway Movement aims to expand its reach further this summer, to make sure that the space feels safe and welcoming for people of all genders, races, ages and life circumstances. With your help we would love to be able to pay our wonderful coaches and administrative team (who have been volunteering their time so that the classes can remain free and accessible to all) and upgrade the community equipment to ensure there is access to a wide range of exercise options - something for everyone.
Examples of the types of equipment we would like to purchase to upgrade the area include portable pull up bars, portable dip bars, gymnastics rings, multiple sets of resistance bands, different types of paralettes/ p-bars and a never-ending supply of liquid chalk to make sure the bars aren’t slippery in the summer heat. Donations will also allow us to clean and maintain the equipment to a safe and professional standard.
Our free community classes are currently running every other Sunday and we would like to offer water and snacks for participants so that everyone who would like to attend stays hydrated and well nourished.
Core team members would also be able to undertake first aid training to ensure we are able to safely and accurately tend to any injuries that might arise.
Mental Health / Community Support :
- Mental health training / crisis training for core members to support those in need
- Subsidised community events
- Discounted event tickets so events are accessible to all
Broadway Movement community brings together people of all ages, races, genders and life circumstances. The common thread being: every single member was simply looking for a free and safe gym space. The unlikely mix of people is what is most magical about the Broadway Movement Community and, as you can read in the testimonials below, members often benefit more from the community and social aspect of working out together than they ever expected to. As we build on the social and community aspect of Broadway Movement, we would love to be able to offer discounted group activities and event tickets for any members who are struggling financially, so that they may feel more included on a wider scale.
We would love to also pay for core members of the community to partake in mental health first aid/ crisis training so that we can better help the community in times of need.
Testimonials from members of our community:
Motaz:
Broadway Movement has truly brought me back to life. I’ve been coming here for the past six weeks, and it has made a world of difference. When I first arrived, I was deeply depressed—but now, I’ve found a place that feels like a sanctuary. The area, the bars, and most importantly, the people who form this incredible community, have become what I proudly call my anti-depression zone.
There’s a powerful sense of support, energy, and belonging here, and for that, I’m beyond grateful.
Long live the movement!
Paul:
Coming to the Broadway Movement bars for the past 3 years has been one of the most healing parts of my life❤️I started showing up alone during a time when I was battling bad habits, cutting off toxic people, and trying to figure out who I was !
What began as just physical training turned into something much deeper. Being around people who also want to grow, stay healthy, and better themselves gave me hope and a sense of belonging. This place became my therapy, my routine, my reminder that I’m not alone. And everyone here HAS HEART. Real heart. It’s not just a workout spot, it’s a family, and I’m thankful every day that I found it.
Love to all of Broadway movement ❤️

Before I started coming to the bars my life was such a mess. Going In and out of hospital bcuz of feeling sick and emotionally drained
Since college days my mind and the thoughts were killing me bit by bit. Tried to end it all in 2020 during covid and it was the worst time for me. Until I found Broadway Movement bars and this community every single one of u put a smile on my face even on dark days and I don't regret being here❤️

Such a wonderful sight.

Noel (On behalf of my son Felix):
Before coming, Felix was facing a real tough time. His dad and I separated last Autumn and life as he knew it changed forever. He become so sad, lost his confidence and his adhd spiralled out of control- also started getting bullied at school
About 6 weeks ago, Felix started feeling curious about working out with you all lovely people✨❤️ Felix had the warmest, most beautiful welcome from Farren, Tamika and EVERYONE who complimented him for his strength and determination: calling him ‘the beast’, helping him feel for the first time that he was truly special and great at something ✨
He feels all the and found a new sense of belonging very quickly- his tribe and with it, got his mojo back
Felix continues to discover incredible role models, love, friendship, encouragement and so much inspiration from you all who have been so generous, loving, patient and supportive of him. He looks up to each one of you ☺️
Now he has a new crew of kids who hang at the bars that he adores like Kingston
I couldn’t be more grateful to you all for helping my boy find joy, passion and mindset change so fast.
He is fast learning that adhd is an asset for athletes and that loads of his new friends have it and they are amazing and he can be too.
I felt the magic ✨ as soon as we arrived. Being someone who passionately works in service of the local community, I observe and admire the ever present beautiful community spirit and cohesion, those who are holding the space for all and making everyone feel so welcome.
I love how diverse, inclusive, empowering and embracing the community is and makes me feel so hopeful of what the younger generations are out to achieve I am in awe
After years of witnessing so many negative impact effects on social wellbeing caused by gentrification in Hackney, you are all showing each passer by how powerful a collective can be
Lastly, besides from bringing and chats, I’ve reconnected with my childhood joy of trying out handstands and my inner child is so happy to play
Gracias ❤️
