On Wednesday, August 26, 2020, Brit's Pub was looted and set on fire during a night of major unrest in downtown Minneapolis. The iconic pub will be closed while clean-up, damage assessment and restoration take place. Consequently, the employees at Brit's are now, again, out of work, some with little or no unemployment assistance.
Please consider a contribution to support the staff of Brit's Pub during this closure. Contributions will be shared equitably among the 70 employees of Brit's.
On a beautiful Minnesota summer evening, guests were watching a baseball game on the lawn while others enjoyed a comedy show on the veranda. Police sirens became increasingly frequent in the background and at 8pm management announced that due to an escalating situation two blocks away from Brit's, the pub would be closing momentarily. 55 minutes later, a large crowd outside of Brit's shattered the pub's windows and began looting the popular pub. Thankfully all patrons and employees had left the building before the violence erupted. Later that night, in addition to the looting a fire was started - leading to more destruction and subsequentially extensive water damage. As a result, Brit's will be closed for an undetermined time period. This new closure immediately follows three months of business interruption due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We are kindly asking you to make a donation to help support the servers, cooks, bartenders and all other staff of Brit's while the pub is closed.
Since 1990, Brit's Pub has entertained the local and international community. Today, the team at Brit's need your support! If we can raise $35,000, each of the 70 employees would receive, on average, a sum of $500 to help them make ends meet until they can get back to work.
