Here's what our families are saying so far...

“Huge excitement over this weeks box! Just fabulous! We can’t thank you enough!”

“Our son has special needs and sometimes finds it challenging to stay at the dinner table for a whole meal but because today they both helped to prepare the meal we were able to all sit as a family and enjoy that special time together. I am so grateful to your wonderful team for giving us this opportunity.”

The Brite Box Project

In our initial start up phase, we have been identifying 200 families that will benefit most from the project and each week, each family is receiving a Family Meal Brite Box.  This weekly box has all the ingredients and a printed recipe guide along with photos, to illustrate step by step, how to cook a healthy dinner meal together as a family. Once a month families also receive a Baking Brite Box with all the ingredients to bake delicious, home-made family treats.

Brite Box Project’s mission

Voices of Hope (Charity no 1187454) and KingsGate Church (Charity no 1095489) are working with Kingston Council and Achieving for Children (AFC) to launch the Brite Box Project across the whole of Kingston and Richmond.

Our Aims:

• To encourage families to cook healthy, balanced meals together

• To provide an activity for families to do during lockdown and beyond

• To build resilience by resourcing children and families to cook healthy meals

• To proactively address the growing issue of food hunger in children through fun, family activity

Children are more likely to try food they’ve cooked themselves so these Brite Boxes will  give children and parents something fun and productive to do together AND encourage children to try new, healthy foods.

The recipes have been prepared by professional chefs and will provide varied and nutritionally balanced meals.

Quotes from our families:

“My daughter (age 7) has struggled with her eating habits all her life and we have had ARFID diagnosed but by her joining in with the preparation, cooking and eating she was able to try something completely new today - a potato! This project is a fantastic idea and has genuinely helped us today as a family.”

“Thank you so very much for our amazing Brite Box!! Better than I could have even imagined! It made our day!”

Why we are raising money

We are raising funds to initially run the Brite Box Project initiative for 4 months until September 2020 when schools return. Funds will be used to supply the ingredients, boxes and equipment required for 200 boxes per week for the duration of the project, and to cover the utility costs of running the project and support the volunteers involved.

We are looking, after this initial launch, to be able to run this as a continuous project.
Please share on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and ask your friends, family and colleagues to help as well.

Voices of Hope & Kingsgate Church COVID-19 Activity

In response to the COVID-19 since March 2020, Voices of Hope (Charity no 1187454) and KingsGate Church (Charity no 1095489), in partnership with Kingston Council, have been running the Kingstonaid Food HUB, a project which has seen over 15,000 healthy meals and goodie bags prepared and delivered to those who are vulnerable and isolated in the community. The project currently delivers approximately 1,500 meals per week.

All food preparation and delivery of Brite Boxes will fully comply with the Government’s COVID-19 food and safety and working standards. In recognition of the diverse mix of our communities, we aim to develop meals and provide food that meets the cultural and other needs of our specific service user groups. Deliveries will be made each week via AFC’s team of DBS-checked drivers.
