Do you want to make a difference to the 1 million people suffering from dementia in the UK?
If you have 30 seconds today, please consider donating to support families facing dementia.
In December 2025, my grandfather was diagnosed with dementia. He fought against guerrillas in Malaya, and worked as a landscaper and builder for his whole life. I know how much fight he has in him, but watching him slowly lose his battle for cognitive ability is difficult for the whole family. Despite this, he's always happy, and keeps a smile on his face all day long.
This decline resembles what millions of UK family members watch every day. Now that I understand how painful this is, I want to raise significant funds to help people like my grandfather, and their loved ones, weather the storm of dementia and discover innovative treatments.
I am swimming the 15 mile long stretch of the Bristol Channel in June 2026.
As a child, the Bristol Channel has been a tempting adventure. It doesn't look too far to Devon, but I'm sure it is when you're swimming.
This swim is a dream come true, and to make a splash by promoting for Dementia UK is even more of an honour.
My goal is to raise £2,500, which will be matched by my employer, doubling the impact to £5,000.
If 250 people donated £10, we would reach the target.
This is how your donations can make a difference:
£ 250
Could fund a new Admiral Nurse to run a full day of face-to-face appointments for families affected by young onset dementia (where symptoms develop under the age of 65).
£ 557
could pay for two Admiral Nurses to answer calls on our Helpline on a Sunday, when other dementia services are closed.
£ 1250
could fund a new Admiral Nurse for a whole week to support a community where people are struggling to access local dementia services.
£10,000 could fund 10 weeks of essential dementia services for a whole community.
If you’re able to donate, every contribution genuinely makes a difference.
Even sharing this page helps spread awareness.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia. By supporting our charity, you can help us grow the number of specialist dementia nurses, giving more families a lifeline. With your help, no one will have to face dementia alone.
