Bringing Home The Guernseys

Donation protected
We are the Guernsey's. Joe is the dad, Cheryl is the mom, Emma (11), Maggie(5), Amelia(1) and Andy are our sweet babies. We would first like to thank you for taking the time to read about us and consider donating to help us. We are a family from Jackson, MS who is relocating to North Texas for our newborn son's health needs. Joe is a tech support specialist, while Cheryl stays at home taking care of the kiddos.

In early fall of 2018 we were told that we were expecting our fourth child, a precious little boy. In December at 22 weeks, we given the news that our son would be born with a significant heart anomaly.

Our doctors and specialists in Mississippi told us that for Andy to have the best of chances we would need to go out of state for delivery and treatment. Our fetal cardiologist recommended the cardiac program at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. With much prayer and consideration we agreed that the LORD was leading us to Dallas and that Andy would receive the best possible care there. After meeting with the cardiology team who would be taking care of Andy from the moment he was born, they recommended that we permanently relocate to North Texas for long term continuity of care. They explained that again we are on a long journey, not just a quick race. They were able to set us up with lodging at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas that would provide us housing throughout Andy's birth and treatment at Children's Medical. With that we loaded everything we could and took a step out on faith with to come to Dallas.

On March 9th at 1:22am Andrew Kilbane Guernsey joined our world weighing 7.4 pounds and was 18.8 inches long.

Within the first week of life Andy had the first of many procedures to help his heart function. The doctors and nurses that we encountered were simply amazing and we quickly understood why the LORD lead us here. Andy would begin to progress those first few weeks and then would have setbacks, but it was nothing that the team at Children's Medical Center and the LORD couldn't handle. After 25 days we were finally released from the hospital. Even though they allowed us to leave the hospital, the doctors are closely following Andy with various weekly appointments. He is also receiving physical, occupational, and speech therapies. His doctors have again told us that as he grows he will need more procedures so that his heart function can keep up with him.

While Ronald McDonald House has been an incredible blessing to us, our time here is quickly coming to an end. Joe was blessed to find a job that will offer great benefits, but unfortunately starts him out at a base salary. While this new company will offer raises, at this point his income is simply not enough for a family of six that includes a special needs child.

What your donation will do for and mean to our family:

It will help us secure housing in a good school district and close to Andy's doctors and hospital.

It will help us to move our belongings from Mississippi to Texas.

It will allow us to pay any outstanding medical bills for Andy.

While we are still very nervous about this giant leap of faith that we have stepped out on, we have to believe that the LORD is not going to leave us hanging. We know HE has great things in store for our family and that HE will see us through. We look forward to a time where we are established here in Texas and can pay forward the many blessings we have already received.

If you feel led to donate to us, please know that even the smallest of donations will make a difference and is so greatly appreciated. If you are unable to financially contribute, your prayers would also be appreciated. It is also our goal to individually thank everyone who is able to give us assistance. We also would ask that you share our story with your friends and family.
