While we are overjoyed to be reunited, the battle is far from over. We are now fighting this case from the outside, which involves a complex new legal process and multiple upcoming court dates. The fight continues, but now Mayra can face it alongside her daughter and her family. My name is Carlos Corbera, and I am writing this with a heavy heart but a determined spirit. I am the father of a beautiful, loving little girl named Romina. For many years, Mayra Aguirre has been my partner and the light of our home. Together, we have worked hard to raise Romina with strong family values and a heart full of love.

Background: Our lives were shattered in early December when Mayra was taken into custody by ICE. Since that day, our home has felt empty. Romina asks for her mother every day, and as a father, it is heartbreaking to look into her eyes and tell her we are still waiting.
