Help Us Support Blind and Visually Impaired Children

We are calling on friends, colleagues, and supporters to help bring hope and dignity to some of the world’s most vulnerable: blind and visually impaired children in communities with limited access to essential care and education.

This campaign is proudly supported by Samuel Thomas (Senior Safety Representative) and Roberto Emanuel Torjo (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Representative), both Unite the Union Reps working at Bylor on the Hinkley Point C project.

From 8th to 18th November 2025, Sam and Roberto will take on an extraordinary challenge — cycling over 326 kilometers across remote and rural regions to raise awareness and funds for children living without sight.

This isn’t just a bike ride.

It’s a show of solidarity, compassion, and internationalism.

Blind children around the world face huge challenges due to lack of access to:

Assistive technology and mobility tools

Inclusive education programs

Eye care, therapy, and medical support

Braille materials and adaptive learning resources

Safe and inclusive learning environments

Meet the Riders

Roberto Emanuel Torjo, a union rep and passionate cyclist, brings his experience working with over 100 nationalities to this challenge. As a committed advocate for inclusion, he’s combining his love for cycling with his drive to give back and support those in need.

Also representing HPC is Samuel Thomas, a Unite Health & Safety Rep who’s no stranger to endurance events. Sam has already completed:

A 50-mile run over the Quantocks

A 107-mile cycle during the Carten (Cardiff to Tenby)

And this August, he’s taking on the Backyard Ultra — running 4.167 miles every hour, aiming to last a full 24 hours and cover at least 100 miles.

This ride is part of a bigger commitment to push limits for causes that matter.
