Hope Behind The Walls-WV was created to support incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, and the families who love them.

Across West Virginia, thousands of families are navigating the difficult realities of incarceration. Many people inside our prisons are working to change their lives, grow spiritually, and prepare to return home — but they often lack the support systems and resources needed to successfully rebuild their lives.

Their families often carry that burden alone.

Children grow up missing a parent.

Elderly parents struggle to stay connected with their loved ones.

Returning citizens face barriers to housing, employment, and transportation.

Our organization was founded to change that.

Hope Behind The Walls-WV is dedicated to:

• Supporting families with incarcerated loved ones

• Providing encouragement and support for children of incarcerated parents

• Helping elderly parents and family members stay connected to their loved ones

• Advocating for humane prison conditions and second-chance policies

• Helping returning citizens successfully reintegrate into society

• Providing guidance with identification, employment resources, and technology skills

• Offering mentorship, advocacy, and hope for those seeking a better path forward

We believe that people are more than the worst mistake they’ve ever made.

With community support, we are working to build programs that help individuals successfully transition home, strengthen families, and reduce recidivism in West Virginia.

• Provide transportation assistance for families and returning citizens

• Provide technology training and job-readiness support

• Create educational and resource guides for families

• Support children of incarcerated parents with programs and resources

• Assist elderly family members who struggle to stay connected to loved ones

• Build partnerships that support second chances across West Virginia
