Bringing Hope and Light to Thailand

Hi, my name is Sarah. I am planning to travel to Thailand this Sept/Oct. I will be working alongside a registered charity called Hope and Light, which was founded by my sister in law Laura. The aim is to visit projects that Hope and Light partner with, but more importantly to outreach and distribute aid to women, children and babies who have been exploited into the sex trade. Many of these women have been taken as young girls from rural villages with the promise of work, only to discover they have been trafficked for the purposes of sex trade. Due to poverty and no opportunity for alternative work, they are forced to live and work as slaves in this degrading industry. Hope and Light work closely with partners in Thailand to set up and maintain projects which provide an opportunity to learn new skills such as jewellery making and weaving. This in turn provides women with independence and a source of income, so they can support themselves and their children and escape the sex trade industry. At the heart of Hope and Light is the belief that all humans have value and worth, and have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. We will find out how the projects can be best supported in reaching more women and children, and see the difference that is being made in many lives. It is easy to turn a blind eye to the suffering of others when it isn't our reality, but we can all help to make a difference. Your support is so much appreciated, thank you.
