"It takes a village to raise a child"... a common phrase we have all heard. In Heather and Nick's case, this village is being called upon, not only to help raise their future child, but also to help bring their precious child home.
Those of you who know Nick and Heather know their love story began a long time ago, when they were merely children themselves. At 16 and 17 years old, they started their journey that would take them through many ups and some downs through the years. Married in 2006 they were excited to become homeowners building their future and dreams together for the family they would raise there. Two years later in 2008 they began to actively pursue their next steps of growing their family and becoming parents. The journey to parenthood has been one full of challenges, disappointments, and even heartbreak. After many years, medications, doctors appointments, surgeries, procedures (including IUIs and IVF), Heather and Nick continue to be the strong couple (even stronger) we all know and love, but still without the longing of their hearts... a child.
With a new year, they decided 2018 was a time to refocus and change the plan. They have sought out adoption resources and are now working with Adoption Support Center of Indianapolis. This is where you, as members of their village, come in to play to help bring home Baby W. Adoption fees are estimated to total upwards of $35K. Due to medical bills, out of pocket fertility expenses, and depleted retirement funds, Nick and Heather have decided after much consideration that it may be time to share their story and ask for help- something that does not come naturally for either of them. If you should be so inclined to help this loving couple bring home the baby they are praying and longing for please know that no amount of support is too small, financial or otherwise.
It truly takes a village, as we all know. Heather and Nick could not be more grateful for their "village" and for the support they have received throughout this journey. They look forward to this next chapter and bringing home Baby W!
