Bringing Home Baby Burke

Hi, we are the Burke’s. It is with much excitement that we are able to share with you our journey to becoming parents.
On July 11, 2015 we married and shortly after we began trying to have a family. Over the last 6 years on the infertility journey it has included a colposcopy (find cancer or abnormal cells), hysteroscopy (review of uterus for cysts), hysterosalpingogram (flushes out fallopian tubes), semen analysis’, failed IUI procedures, hormonal shots, medication, and substantial money spent. We were told in early spring 2021, that we were given a 10% chance of conceiving either naturally or with IUI. We could attempt IVF (spending up to $75,000) but with only a 30% chance of conceiving. In late spring 2021, we experienced a miscarriage due to an ectopic pregnancy. In Fall of 2021 we found out more medical news, that gave us a 5% chance of conceiving. Within that small chance, we were given warnings: high chance of still birth, high chance of miscarriage, and high-risk pregnancy. We were also warned that if we conceived Riley should be prepared to make the decision between mom and baby. It was a blow to the both of us. A dream of ours was crushed and we were absolutely devastated. The best way to explain it is: It’s like going to an amusement park and you don’t have a ticket. And no matter how much you try, plead, or beg you can’t get one. So instead, you must stand back at the gates and watch everyone laugh, play, and enjoy the rides. You can hear the music, smell the cotton candy on the breeze, and see the joy all around you, but you cannot partake in any of the fun. Over the last 6 months Riley and I have taken the time to grieve and pray to God for his plan for us. God presented us with two options surrogacy and adoption. God spoke to us and our hearts, revealing that adoption is our path. He told us our story is bigger than we ever could have imagined.
October 29, 2021 we had our first adoption meeting. On November 3, 2021 we turned in our adoption application to get on the waiting list. We can’t wait to see what the future holds, but before we get there we need your love, help, and support. Through the years of infertility we have spent the money we saved for all of our treatments. As we begin the adoption process we quickly are learning how costly the entire process can be. We are unsure of how quick or long the process will be, as it is all in God’s timing. Any amount that you are able to give will help us tremendously and we can’t even begin to express our gratitude for your donation. It has been a long grief filled road to starting a family, but with your help we can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for taking the time to hear our story and we look forward to sharing more with you as it continues to be written.
