Hi, I’m Laura — and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever written. I never imagined asking for help like this. But sometimes, life brings you to a place where you have to open your hands and ask — even when it feels vulnerable.
We’re currently preparing for IVF, after years of waiting and hoping. I’m 37, time is moving quickly, and we’re aware that this window may not stay open for long.
We’re doing everything we can to make IVF possible. We’re saving money ourselves, exploring every option, and carefully weighing each next step. But the truth is — fertility treatment is expensive, and we don’t qualify for NHS funding. The hardest part is that the full cost of treatment is due upfront, and we simply can’t reach it fast enough alone.
Even with a good ovarian reserve, age plays a role in egg quality — and it’s likely that only one or two embryos will be suitable for transfer.
The additional £10,000 we’re hoping to raise would allow us to do a second egg collection, freeze any viable embryos, and give us a real chance at growing the family we’ve dreamed of.
We’re not asking for everything to be covered — just enough to bridge the gap and help us begin. This isn’t about seeking the “perfect” journey — it’s about giving ourselves options, time, and hope. A chance to try. A chance to bring home a baby.
We’re hoping to raise £10,000 in total to help cover:
Egg collection
IVF treatment and medication
Embryo freezing
Frozen transfer of embryo(s)
I’ve also decided to share our journey on a new blog, Bloom + Flourish Collective (bloomflourishcollective.com), a space I created to gently create a community and hold stories of growth, waiting, and slow hope. If you’d like to read more or follow along, you’re so welcome there.
Whether you’re able to give, share, or simply hold us in your heart — thank you. Your support is helping us walk forward with hope, and that means more than I can put into words.
With love and gratitude,
Laura & John
